The narrator of this incident is a small girl who had an elder brother, one younger brother, parents and grandparents. Her father had gone for service in the city. The grandmother and grandfather lived apart. One day the mother of the children went to the shop to get some oil for cooking. The children were happy to think that they would taste oil after a long time. The dacoits had killed the mother in the way and took away the oil. They had raided the village for the third time. They had taken away everything during the first two raids. The third time there was nothing to take, so they burned the cottages. The mother did not returned and the children waited for her patiently.
